The Construction Estimator is pivotal to the success of our national projects by providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for Michilli's clients.

Leveraging your extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards, you will analyze project plans, specifications, and proposals to develop comprehensive estimates that guide budgeting and decision-making. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure all aspects of the project are accurately reflected in your estimates. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, engineering reports, and project specifications to determine scope of work.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates for all project phases—from conceptual to final bidding.
  • Develop conceptual and schematic budgets with limited design documents.
  • Identify and analyze project risks, proposing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Analyze alternate means and methods to determine the most cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare competitive bid packages that align with client expectations and company goals, contributing directly to Michilli’s success in winning new projects.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from qualified subcontractors and suppliers; ensure scope alignment.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable execution. Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and business development during bid and proposal phases.
  • Assist with proposal development and technical narratives in coordination with Marketing.
  • Participate in project handoffs, including job kick-off meetings, to ensure smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
  • Visit job sites as needed to support estimating efforts or resolve pricing discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction related discipline
  • Three (3) plus years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Estimating software
  • Experience with Procore is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings and plans
  • Thorough understanding of quality building practices
  • Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels, both internal and externally

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to visit job sites as needed.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
