The Education Administrator I manages the Professional Learning Support and Monitoring Office within the Professional Learning Support Division. Responsibilities include providing leadership, direction, and supervision of office staff to provide technical assistance to the field and administer programs that support educators in the areas of federal Title II, Part A statewide policy and local educational agency (LEA) technical assistance; mathematics, science, environmental literacy, physical education (PE), and computer science. This includes the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), Mathematics, Science, and Computer Science Professional Learning, PE uniform complaint procedures, as well as Title II, Part A and PE compliance monitoring; and web page content for all related programs.
The Education Administrator I directs the formulation and implementation of strategies to promote policies, programs, and priorities of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, the California Department of Education (CDE), and the State Board of Education in the areas of federal Title II, Part A; mathematics, science, PE, and computer science professional learning initiatives; PAEMST; and program compliance monitoring. Consults with key CDE staff; recommends and obtains approval of major implementation strategies; directs the implementation of staff tasks; and proposes new initiatives, including legislation, designed to improve the programs assigned to the office.
Oversees the preparation of work products such as Requests for Applications/Proposals, contracts, reports to the Legislature, standards and framework professional learning support resources, meeting materials, etc. Assigns staff work, determines tasks and timelines; reviews work products to ensure quality and alignment with CDE style, policies, and priorities; and obtains managerial approvals for product development, content, and publication, including web resources.

TELEWORK OPTION
HYBRID
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.

• Experience with monitoring contracts and grants.
