Job Description

About COGS' Client:

Cogs is working with a well-established, internationally recognised industrial manufacturer with a strong presence across Europe and globally. The business operates in a technically complex environment, supporting a wide range of production and engineering functions across multiple sites. Purchasing is a strategically important function, closely aligned with operations and senior leadership. The organisation offers a high level of visibility, responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute directly to ongoing transformation and performance improvement across key indirect spend areas. This is a role suited to individuals who want to be part of a forward-looking, well-structured business where procurement has genuine influence.

Role Overview:

This newly established role is part of a broader procurement transformation initiative aimed at enhancing indirect spend management, driving strategic sourcing, and aligning procurement operations across business units.

With a regional scope covering approximately $100 million in indirect spend across categories such as MRO, capex, energy, freight, and overheads, this role is critical to building and executing global procurement strategies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with local site teams, business unit leaders, and support functions to ensure effective deployment of sourcing initiatives, contract compliance, and supplier performance.

This position is preferably based in Nashville, TN with travel required throughout North America.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead procurement activities for assigned indirect spend categories across regional sites.
  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business needs and global procurement objectives.
  • Conduct spend analysis to identify consolidation opportunities and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including operations, maintenance, R&D, HSE, logistics, and HR—to build sourcing requirements and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Apply a structured 7-step sourcing methodology to execute synergy projects from market analysis through contract deployment.
  • Create and manage RFQs, define technical specifications and SLAs, and support supplier selection processes.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers, finalize service level agreements, and ensure contractual compliance.
  • Develop and maintain a supplier relationship management (SRM) framework for key categories.
  • Support the integration of procurement tools such as ERP systems and e-catalogues to streamline operations.
  • Oversee a network of local buyers, ensuring consistent execution of sourcing strategies and monitoring contract performance.
  • Deliver on annual savings targets and ensure alignment between procurement actions and broader organizational goals.
  • Regularly communicate progress and updates to senior stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Identify and share best practices in procurement processes, tools, and supplier management across the network.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement within an international or multi-site organization.
  • Proven ability to manage indirect spend categories and deliver measurable cost savings.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills with a focus on total cost of ownership and risk mitigation.
  • Familiarity with sourcing across a variety of indirect categories (e.g., MRO, capex, freight, services).
  • Experience using ERP systems and e-procurement tools; knowledge of process improvement (e.g., P2P) is a plus.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills are advantageous.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across North America as needed.
