Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software architecture and design, with expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, SQL, NoSQL, Kafka, Angular, and cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure. The Java Architect will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of scalable and robust banking applications, ensuring high performance, security, and compliance with industry standards.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Pittsburgh, PA is $140k - $150k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions using Java and associated frameworks.
  • Architect scalable and resilient applications leveraging Spring Boot, Hibernate, and microservices architecture.
  • Utilize SQL and NoSQL databases for efficient data management and retrieval.
  • Integrate messaging systems like Kafka for real-time data processing and communication.
  • Develop front-end web applications using Angular, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes and improve software delivery.
  • Lead architectural discussions, code reviews, and provide guidance to development teams.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, security, and performance optimization.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to the banking sector.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Java Architect, preferably in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful web services.
  • Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Hands-on experience with front-end technologies, particularly Angular.
  • Proficient in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including architecture and deployment strategies.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred, but not required:

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
