Who are we looking for?
We are in need of a PTA with strong orthopedic and manual skills who can work collaboratively in a multimodal approach that is PATIENT-CENTERED! Our therapists need to be self-motivated, very organized, caring and have a degree from an APTA accredited physical therapy program as well as a current license to practice.
REQUIREMENT: PTA with an Indirect License.
What qualifications do you need to possess?
Must have graduated from a A.P.T.A accredited therapy assistant program, with a minimal of an Associate's degree and be eligible for State Board Examination. Individuals must pass the licensing exam in order to continue practice beyond a temporary license. PTA must maintain all requirements of State licensure.
Who does it report to?
Supervising Licensed Physical Therapist, Site Supervisor, Clinical Director, Owners and Directors.
What are the Primary responsibilities?
Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) may treat patients ONLY under the direction of a Physical Therapist as defined in the State law.
The PTA may perform physical therapy procedures and related tasks that have been selected and delegated by the Supervising Physical Therapist.
The PTA may administer treatment with therapeutic exercise, massage, mechanical devices, and therapeutic agents that use the properties of air, water, electricity, sound or light.
The PTA may make minor modifications to treatment plans within the predetermined plan of care, assist the physical therapist with evaluations, and document treatment progress.
The ability of the PTA to perform the selected and delegated tasks shall be assessed by the supervising physical therapist.
The PTA shall not perform interpretation of referrals, physical therapy evaluation, re- evaluation, major modification of treatment plan, final discharge of the patient, or therapeutic techniques beyond the skill and knowledge of the PTA or without proper supervision.
What physical demands should you be aware of?
General Demands for the Physical Therapy Assistant position are listed under the 'medium duty’ category in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles as published by The U.S. Department of Labor. The physical demands incorporated at The Injury Care Center are not to exceed this level. All employees should seek assistance from another individual to prevent any lifting beyond a 50 lb level. The Sit/Stand/Walk ratios tend to be equal at 33% of the day. This ratio remains within the control of the therapist depending on the task that needs to be accomplished.
