Job Description

We are working with an organization in Carlsbad on an exciting Sr. Payroll Specialist opportunity!

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, taxes, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Process payroll updates, such as new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes, in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and produce precise payroll records and reports for compliance and review purposes.
  • Stay compliant with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and payroll regulations.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and records, while helping develop internal audit protocols.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for payroll systems, software, and check processing procedures.
  • Manage payroll team members by hiring, training, overseeing work, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Shared Services team on special projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • 5–10 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now and eTime is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of California wage regulations and federal payroll laws.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service while staying proactive in learning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technology tools.
  • Excellent multitasking, organizational, and analytical abilities, paired with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and problem-resolution skills.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business/accounting preferred; Certified Payroll Professional certification is a bonus.
  • Payroll experience in healthcare environments will be considered an advantage.
