IOS-XR Routing Test Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an IOS-XR Routing Test Engineer for our client in Milpitas, CA, for Hybrid work.

Pay Rate: $65-$68/Hr. on W-2

Note: This position is only available to candidates without a sponsorship requirement. The candidate must work on W-2 only; no C-2-C or third-party candidates are permitted. There is no employer involvement.

Role Summary:

Join a high-performing team that tests and validates cutting-edge features for Cisco's IOS-XR routing platforms. You will work on a multibillion-dollar portfolio, solving challenging technical problems, ensuring high-quality releases, and impacting next-generation network deployments in Service Provider (SP) environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with software engineers and product teams to develop and validate innovative networking solutions.
• Designed and executed feature- and system-level test plans for IOS-XR-based routing platforms.
• Provide input throughout the development lifecycle, including PRD reviews, feature design, and code validation.
• Lead test strategy for protocols like BGP, EVPN, Segment Routing , and others in SP environments.
• Automate test cases using Python or an equivalent scripting language.
• Use modern tools and Linux environments to debug complex software/hardware issues.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to functional specs and quality assurance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• MS in EE/CS with 5+ years of experience OR BS in EE/CS with 6+ years of experience in networking and software testing.
• Strong experience in feature-level testing and system-level validation of access, edge, and core routing platforms.
• In-depth understanding of L2–L7 protocols and networking fundamentals.
• Deep protocol knowledge in BGP, Segment Routing (SR), and EVPN .
• Hands-on automation experience with Python or similar scripting tools.
• Familiarity with Linux environments , software development workflows, and modern debugging tools.
• Experience with SP (Service Provider) deployments is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership capabilities.
• Self-driven, analytical, and passionate about quality engineering.

Preferred Skills:

• Prior experience working with IOS-XR or similar carrier-grade operating systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and test frameworks.
• Exposure to cloud networking, virtualization (e.g., containers, VMs), and telemetry.
